Ein Aufenthalt in den „Sunlit Bay Luxury Villas“ in Neuseelands hohem Norden schlägt schnell in angenehme Ferienstimmung um. Auch wenn der britische Entdecker Kapitän Cook seine Zweifel hatte, ob es sich bei „Doubtless Bay“ in Northland überhaupt um eine Bucht handelte und deshalb vorbeisegelte, lassen die „Sunlit Bay Luxury Villas“ für Reisende keinen Grund aufkommen, hier nicht ein paar Tage zu verweilen. Die traumhafte Lage am Coopers Beach direkt am Meer ist einzigartig.
Die als “Beach Lodge” bekannt gewordenen Ferienwohungen waren von Gastgeber Margaret Morrison über Jahrzehnte aufgebaut und mit “Herz und Seele” erfolgreich geführt worden. Morrison, eine Ikone im neuseeländischen Tourismus, lebt jetzt im verdienten Ruhestand.
Die fünf Villas mit Blick auf den Strand und die “Doubtless Bay” wurden 2024 komplett modernisiert und haben ausreichend Platz für bis zu vier Personen, sind alle mit zeitgemässen Kücheneinrichtungen ausgestattet und bieten dank neuester Wärmetechnik auch im Winter und der Zwischensaison behagliche Gemütlichkeit.

Die Komplett-Renovierung hat “Sunlit Bay Luxury Villas” zu einem attraktiven und modernen Urlaubs-Domizil gemacht. Die Doppelhäuser oberhalb des Strandes, getrennt durch eine private Treppe zum Wasser, sowie eine separate Sunset-Suite-Villa, bieten viel Privatsphäre und sind mit viel Geschmack und Liebe zum Detail neu eingerichtet worden.

Die hochmoderne Küche mit schönem Geschirr lädt zum Kochen ein, Wäsche kann in einer separaten “Laundry” gewaschen werden und der nächste Supermarkt ist nur wenige Autominuten entfernt. “Sunlit Bay Luxury Villas” nutzt Solarstrom, bietet Recycling-Möglichkeiten und pflegt einen eigenen Gemüsegarten. Die schöne Bepflanzung rund um die Villen besteht aus subtropischen Pflanzen und exotischen Büschen mit duftenden Blüten. Grosse, heimische Pohutukawa-Bäume schützen vor der Meeres-Brise und ein erfrischendes Bad in der sicheren Bucht ist empfehlenswert.

New Zealand’s Sunlit Bay Luxury Villas: holiday bliss right on the beach
A stay at the “Sunlit Bay Luxury Villas” in New Zealand’s far north quickly turns into a pleasant vacation mood. Even if the British explorer Captain Cook had his doubts as to whether “Doubtless Bay” in Northland was a bay at all and therefore sailed past, the “Sunlit Bay Luxury Villas” give travelers no reason not to spend a few days here. The dreamlike location on Coopers Beach right by the sea is unique.
The vacation apartments, which became known as “Beach Lodge”, were built up and successfully managed with “heart and soul” by owner and host Margaret Morrison over decades. Morrison, an icon in New Zealand tourism, is now living out her well-earned retirement.
The five villas overlooking the beach and Doubtless Bay were completely modernized in 2024 and have enough space for up to four people, are all equipped with modern kitchen facilities and, thanks to the latest heating technology, offer cosy comfort even in winter and the off-season.
The complete renovation has turned “Sunlit Bay Luxury Villas” into an attractive and modern vacation home. The semi-detached houses above the beach, separated by a private staircase to the water, as well as a another selfcontained sunset suite villa, offer plenty of privacy and have been newly furnished with great taste and attention to detail.
Each of the houses has a spacious balcony with comfortable sun loungers and outdoor furniture imported from Italy, a cozy seating area and a breathtaking panoramic view of the bay, where dolphins often frolic. The light-flooded rooms are dominated by light colors, the living room, bedroom and kitchen area as well as a further bedroom on the second floor are stylishly and comfortably furnished and equipped with the latest entertainment technology (large flat-screen TVs and WiFi).
The ultra-modern kitchen with beautiful crockery invites you to cook, laundry can be done in a separate wing and the nearest supermarket is only a few minutes away by car. “Sunlit Bay Luxury Villas uses solar power, offers recycling facilities and has its own vegetable garden. The beautiful planting around the villas consists of subtropical plants and exotic bushes with fragrant flowers. Large, native Pohutukawa trees provide protection from the sea breeze and a refreshing dip in the safe bay is recommended.
The new manager couple Norma and Alastair are happy to help with valuable tips for excursions and sports in Doubtless Bay and the wider north of New Zealand. Excursions to the famous Cape Reinga, sand sledging on 90 Mile Beach or rounds of golf in Whangaroa Harbour are recommended day trips. The sleepy fishing village of Mangonui with restaurants, art galleries and boutique stores as well as a whale museum are just some of the possible activities.
